The Ryan Kuhns trio will launch our first of a series of student concerts. Ryan is a sophomore at the University of the Arts. He's a great young player and I wanted to give him as well as other great young players the opportunity to perform.

Well bandwidth permitting we'll broadcast the gig friday night at Dolan's here in Limerick Ireland. I'll be playing with John Daly and his trio, all great musicians! We'll be rigging this all together, but it should work fine.

I'm curious to see if this works because I'd like to broadcast more concerts from different countries. We'll See!!!

I'm terrible with names but the Guitarist and Bass Player and Drummer (John Daly) are really happening. So check them out if you can.

The concert is 9pm Ireland's time and 4 oclock east coast U.S. time. So tune in if you can.

I might try to figure out how to do a Q&A session on the break. So if you you're curious as to what it's like to be a Jazz musician in Ireland ask away.

Another drummer who knows how to kick a big band is Terry Clarke. And when you consider the size of this band, Rob McConnell and the Boss Brass, that's a pretty tough nut to crack.

This is a clip from a concert in 1968 featuring Count Basie and his Orchestra with the great drummer Harold Jones. The chart is called Magic Flea which was written by Sammy Nestico.

Pretty strange song, especially for a white boy from the suburbs. However Cornell Rochester is one bad ass drummer. I played with him for a moment there and he's something else.

We'll be performing Skip's originals in one of our favorite venues. The band consists of Skip on piano, Tom Kozic on guitar, Tony Marino on bass, Gary Rissmiller on drums, and myself on saxophones.

Tony is a great Philly drummer.

Joe Nero wrote up some 5 note groupings and how to practice them.

A lesson that deals with 4 note goupings over triplets.

If you're going to play jazz you need to keep time on the ride cymbal really well. Joe Nero gives somes tips and ways to practice this.
